SMU Alumnus, Rupak George (Guitar/Bass), together with 3 friends, Seyra, Khidir and Zack, came together to form this mesmerizingly chill post-rock band.
Esplanadeyouth has this to say:
Seyra – actually the name of the girl who writes and sings with accompanying musicians – has been compared to Corrine Bailey Rae or Zee Avi but they’re neither flamboyant like Rae nor have an overly optimistic sound like Avi. What Seyra does best is spicing up what would otherwise be simple bittersweet acoustic tunes through clever pop arrangements and a myriad of instruments including the occasional electric guitars and a cajon – this is music that can feed geeky-hippy-indie-emo chicks.
The band, despite just forming early this year, have already released an self-titled EP, “Seyra” which you can purchase over at their bandcamp website for just $8 or download for FREE.
The band will be playing at this year’s Baybeats 2011.
I highly recommend you guys to check them out. At the very least, listen to their track ‘Goodnight’. You won’t regret it. If you like it, do support them by purchasing their EP.

Something special for the day.
Min’z is a 21 year old KL-based musician who, “writes depressing, suicidal songs but leads a good, fat, happy life.”
She currently has one EP out, called ‘Charcoaled Firefly’, which you can get by emailing her via the link on her Facebook page.
If there’s any song you have to check out, you have to listen to this original, titled ‘Request for Silence’, which features the excellent local music group, Nightsound.

Comprised of Zach, Saf, Joey, Leon, Bong and Weiwen, the young band from Singapore thrives on their undying love for music, impulsive songwriting, and most importantly, their friendship.
Known for their soulful take on alternative rock packed with provoking lyrics, the band already has a Single and EP under their belt, and are looking forward to working on their debut album in 2011.
janglykeys over at 8tracks have compiled a nice mix of local music that serves as a good introduction for those who want to find out more about the scene.
Have a listen.
